Key West Fest

Vacation… Yes, Please ☀️ 🏄‍♀️

So, for my BFF’s 40th b day she wanted to go to the land of Key West. We got very lucky with the weather since Elsa has decided to rear her ugly head and make travel plans difficult. Here are our fave picks and travel tricks from our vacay to the Keys 🔑 🔑 ❤️

The first thing I decided to order for our trip was a new toiletry bag. This one from Travel Toiletry Bag was seriously one of the best travel items I’ve ever purchased. It has TONS of room for every product (and if you are like me you bring a lot of them). The bag folds up beautifully and has plastic compartments in case of a spill! At $27.99 it was worth EVERY penny. 🙌🏻

As soon as we arrived, I was thankful that I had brought my SPF. The sun is extra HOT 🥵 down in FL so my new ELTA body moisturizer sunscreen a baseball momma pal recommended with SPF 30 was a godsend. As soon as we arrived, our friends were waiting for us at Hogfish Bar & Grill which a fun and casual local joint that cooked up all the fresh fish 🐠 they had just caught on their fishing 🎣 expedition! They fried it and blackened it and nothing is better than fish right outta the water 💦.

The next day, we decided to go jet skiing (I had never been). We went on a tour that took you across the keys and to the southern most point (about 90 miles from Cuba). The first half of our journey was a blast! Zipping through the calm waters was definitely my speed. The hubby got full throttle on that puppy and I was having a ball! Immediately, I lost my hat (oops) and was glad that I had a fanny pack to hold all of my belongings! Our friend brought a Water safe bag to hold all of their valuables so smart!!! When we got to the rough waters of the Atlantic and began bouncing across the waves, I quickly realized my threshold for adventure maybe wasn’t as high as I thought 😂😂😂. Would I go on a jet ski again…yes! Would I do it in the middle of the ocean… um no def not lol!!! Pic below of me before I knew what was going to happen lol 😂.

Having fun at that point 😂

We went to other amazing restaurants while we were there, Latitudes restaurant on a nearby island was super tasty. The lobster 🦞 roll was delish and the key lime pina colada was heavenly! You take a quick (free) ferry ride to the restaurant and enjoy the view and the food. Def make sure you make a reservation they fill up very fast!!! 🍹

Other highlights of our trip were going to the Ernest Hemingway house. It’s a quick tour (or you can tour it yourself). You will be able to learn about Hemingway’s rich history, not just as a famous author, but as a world traveler. And highlight… you will see the six toed cats that mosey around the property. 🐈 We also hit the spa at the Pier House hotel which is where we stayed. The facials and massage were both very good and it was a well needed break from the hustle and bustle. As far as the hotel goes, the room was average for the area but the view was incredible from our patio!!

Some other restaurant highlights was DJ’s Clam Shack ! It’s a small spot on Duval St. and it’s been featured on Diners Drive ins and Dives! The chowder, shrimp roll and lobster rolls were all delish. The guy at the counter was friendly and the back seating area was great! Our favorite bar in Key West was def General Horseplay . They had a cover singer, it was not a drunk mess of people and the bartenders were nice and the drinks were strong! 🔥

So, our trip to Key West was lots of fun! I got a cute Cuban straw hat, ate tons of fresh seafood, went on a jet ski adventure, and got to hang out and celebrate my BFF’s 40th b day! Key West is def not a relaxing beach town if that’s what you are wanting. It kind of has more of a NOLA vibe with Duval street kind of being like their Bourbon, but we had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves!!! 🙌🏻 here are some other picture highlights from our trip!!!
