So about a year ago we began doing wine tasting events with our local grocery Market Street. These wine tastings became virtual when COVID hit and have been great for fun date nights in. Our phenomenal Wine Guy Jake “from Market Street” curates these virtual wine nights with different wine vitners and tasty charcuterie pairings. We have done Caymus, Silver Oak, Veuve and quite a few other well known vineyards. Tonight, we will be headed to Walla Walla, Washington to experience Spring Valley Wines. On tonight’s pairing list is the Viognier white which the Spring Valley site says contains, “aromas of pear, candied orange peel and flowers with flavors of honey and lemon zest.” Jake has paired this with a double cream brie and fig orange jam. The Uriah Red is mostly Cabernet Franc and Merlot and is detailed with being, “A rich wine coming from one of the warmest harvests. The tannins are velvety and the finish is long and soft.” The pairing for this tasty red is Prima Donna aged Gouda and uncured Soppressata. The Derby Cabernet Sauvignon is “100% Cabernet Sauvignon” and the flavors are focused on “red summer berry with a touch of rose petal and cedar”. The pairing with this Cab will be Deer Creek Doe and Uncured Coppa. We always look forward to these amazing wine evenings and learning about different vineyards and varietals.
